abortion babies : Is There a Solution?

Abortion babies

The article below deals with a very controversial subject: stem cell research.
Missouri Roundtable for Life filed suit earlier this year to bar this year's $21 million for the life sciences board, which distributes the money as research grants...

Among other provisions, the 2003 law bars spending the money for abortion services and human cloning.

Critics of stem cell research worry that the prohibitions were invalidated when voters amended the Missouri Constitution in 2006 to guarantee that any stem cell research legal under federal law is also legal in Missouri.

We've had organ donation and harvesting for years, and most secular and religious people agree that it has been beneficial. The problem with stem cell research, as I understand it, is stem cells have often been harvested from aborted babies, and this, as well as possible human cloning, is the issue for those who believe life was created and is, therefore, sacred.

If we want true separation of church and state, then we must be aware of both sides on these kinds of issues. Secular tax payers should not be bound by those tax payers who believe in God, and believers should not be bound or forced to pay taxes for secular research, which is contrary to their beliefs. When tax dollars are used to fund medical research that is contrary to the values and beliefs of the many, who believe in God, then their rights are being trampled on. So what's the solution?

It looks as though abortion is here to stay, and if stem cells are going to be harvested from aborted babies, or used in human cloning, then believers, in God, should not be forced to pay taxes that end up supporting this research. In other words, if stem cell research is going to continue to use aborted babies and perhaps, even attempt human cloning, then the advocates for this method of medical research should pay the cost. Tax dollars, unless some kind of effective, earmarking procedure is put in place, should not be used for stem cell research that uses aborted babies or has plans for cloning.

On the other hand, believers, down the road, should not benefit from the research that has been done under these conditions. It would be hypocritical for me, or any other believer, to be against this form of research and then turn around and benefit by it. However, if stem cells are harvested from babies who have died a natural death, and the parents have given permission for harvesting, then I can see no difference between this and any other organ donation.

Separation of church and state should not be one-sided! The government, according to the US Constitution, should not endorse or force any religion on the people. At the same time, according to the US Constitution, religious people should not have their rights abridged or taken away by secular agendas.
